Paid surveys are accessible from your computer, and can be performed any time of day.  If you want to take a survey at 3 AM, you can.  It is a pretty awesome opportunity to take advantage of, and it is the beauty of belonging to research panels and survey companies.  The question is, with all the hype, how much can you really earn? 

Taking paid surveys from home can net you several hundred dollars a month if you are pro-active about participating and if you register for multiple companies.  Banking more than a hundred dollars or so can be easily achieved, but it may not be every month.  Also, while it is true that some people have been know to make over a thousand dollars in a month, survey money is not always consistent.  When you are an active member of survey panels, there are three main categories where you can earn:  Online Surveys, Product Review, and Focus Groups.

1.  Online Surveys – If you register for multiple survey companies you will find an abundance of survey invites in your email inbox.  I am talking about registering for a minimum of 15 or more companies to keep it consistent – but these do not all pay the same.  The average survey I like to participate in pays anywhere from -8 and takes about 15 minutes to complete.  There are surveys that pay more, and surveys that pay less, and some take a little more time.

In addition to the-8 surveys, there are a ton of surveys available in the $ .50- range,  surveys that compensate with gifts and prizes, and surveys that give compensation with sweepstakes entries.  Although it may, or may not, be worth your time, I still participate in all of these when I have a free moment.  Everything adds up, and if you happen to be someone who has great luck, the sweepstakes entries can pay off well for you. 

2.  Product Review -  Usually when you are sent a product to review, you also take a follow-up survey that pays you.  The great thing about product reviews, is that you are usually trying and reviewing products that you would have purchased anyway.  So, not only do you get paid for the survey, you get paid in the sense that you saved the money you would have spent on that product.  Double-whammy! I do feel it is necessary to caution you, however, about an off-shoot of the product reviews, because right now they have product review "survey opportunities"  and "free trials" that appear to pay well, but have strict terms and conditions.  You give your credit card number for the free trial and/or product acquisition,  but if you do not cancel exactly according to the original terms, you will find your credit card billed the following month.  Many people get trapped into this and find themselves paying out on these deals more than they get in return.  If you choose to participate in these "offers", make sure you always read the terms and conditions first.  If you are comfortable, go for it.  They usually pay off quite well (up to ).
  Remember, the simple and true-form product reviews never require any payment or credit card number

3. Focus Groups – I am sure you have seen the ads about focus groups, some of which may still be done from home via the telephone or online.  These focus groups usually pay very well.  In fact, they pay from 0-0/hour.  What people do not tell you though, is that most individuals do not qualify for focus groups on a regular basis.  One person could participate in several, while another is just never that lucky.  The honest truth is, that I myself have neverqualified for a single one.  I have received invitations, but I am never what they are looking for. On the flip side, I know people who qualify and have been paid handsomely — you just never know.   Focus group income should be considered a bonus, and is not to be expected.

When is comes to taking surveys, most pro-active survey takers who have registered for multiple survey companies can easily earn hundred a month in extra income.  All you need to do to get started is register and you are on your way.
